A Rescued And Restored Buffet

I purchased this buffet months ago……..
I love the lines, but it had many issues...
It's a very heavy buffet that came from Williams Sherrill,
so you know it cost a fortune originally!
But the finish had chipped away all along the edges
revealing the white underlay.
It's been sitting in my dining room for months.
Time to leave the premises!!!!
This makeover began by my sanding down all the edges.
Then I painted the piece in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite.
(Painting tip: Use paper plates under each leg!)
After drying,
I waxed the piece in dark wax.
Here you can see the difference in the finish once the wax
is added.
All waxed.
I put a second coat on the top for protection.
Now I'll just wait for it to dry.
And here it is all buffed up and finished.
I love the patina!!!!!!!
So rich and elegant.
The buffing really brought out the gold embossed areas.
This piece has three felt lined drawers.
And doors on each side with shelves.
A wonderfully utilitarian piece
with tons of panache!!!!!
For sale: $295.

Have a piece that needs restoring??????
I can help!!!!!!!!!

Decoupage is not Dead!!!!!! It saved my life.

Welcome to my mother's basement.
Where I spent many hours during the recent snowstorm,
working on whatever I could find...
attempting to distract myself from losing my mind.
First project up:
This ugly silver dresser mirror….
It was in my booth for awhile
but I pulled it because it wasn't selling...
Today, it's getting a makeover:
After removing the mirror,
I painted the frame in
Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.
Here it is….
Now for some eye candy.
From an old wallpaper sample book,
I started cutting out roses…..
(Yes, folks, this is what you do when there is
two feet of snow outside and still coming down….)
Then I played around with position on the frame...
 Once I was happy,
I glued down with wood glue.
And after it dried, I distress sanded,
then added clear and dark waxes to age.
Here she is with her new clothes….
(Do you know how hard it is to take a photo of a huge mirror??)
Who is that hot chick?
Double Wilma!!
Still a bunch left, so….
Project # 2:
Very ugly urn lamp.
 Once again,
I based painted in ASCP in Old White.
After the second coat.
On each side of the lamp,
I decoupaged a rose.
Next, I took a Sharpie paint pen in pink…….
And just painted over some of the little details…...
 After sanding, waxing, aging,
it looks like this:
I hit the edges with a little silver gilding wax.
Added an old lampshade until I can find a new one...
And they are both now in my booth at Greenwood Antiques.
So frenchy…shabby….girlie….
The mirror is $85.
The lamp is $65.
And I survived.

Fluffing Booth #2: RVA Antiques on The Aves

I finally made it to RVA Antiques on the Aves
to fluff my booth after being away for almost two weeks.
Here's what it's looking like:
Come on in!
Union Jack file cabinet…
Fun wall storage piece with numbered baskets.
Buddha, baby!
More smalls……...
This industrial tool box would make the
most awesome planter - on a picket fence…
And the slipcovered medallion chair!!!!!!!!!
Get in…….you'll never leave home!
These vintage Klackbo chairs are the bomb!
I can't believe they are still here!
My original art pieces…
Trees…I love to paint trees.
This little industrial cabinet has an orange interior.
Kitchen or bathroom storage piece!!!!!!
Upholstered bench with pillows.
Fun polkadot cornice.

I'm hoping it will be a busy weekend……
at both stores!!!!!!!
Come on out and support your local businesses!!!!!!!
Both stores are open 10-5 tomorrow!
And thanks!

Greenwood Antiques Booth Staging and Snow Survival

Wow, it's is almost the end of January!!!
Emergency surgery…
Snowstorm of the century (or you would think)….
Life is just now returning to normal…finally…….

While I was holed up in Greenwood during the storm,
and because I couldn't tackle anything heavy,
I concentrated on resetting small vignettes
in my booth at Greenwood Antiques.

Take a look:

See something you "gotta have?"
Shoot me a message…..
I can bring it back on my next trip.

Today,
I'll be heading to my booth
to see what magic I can make happen there.

The car is full, as usual.
