Moby Dick Sighting! Rush Bench Makeover

I found this little bench with rush seat at Class and Trash a couple of weeks ago.
I love the lines of the legs...
But there was no way to save the rushing. So...
 I removed it.
Then I base painted the wood in a mixture of
ASCP in Old White and French Linen.
Once dry, I dry brushed with Paris Grey,
then distress sanded, and added clear and dark waxes.
I added jute webbing for support,
then foam, batting, and upholstered the top
with this fun fabric I picked up from Ufab.
Around the edges, I used a navy and white striped trim,
and oversized pewter nail heads...
 …also from Ufab.
Nice little nautical touch.
Definitely looks like a "she"
but I guess its name will be…..
….Moby.
For sale, $145.
(Sorry, the chairs are sold.)

My New Booth: RVA Antiques on Lakeside Ave in Richmond

I now feel complete.
After a two year hiatus,
I once again have a retail space in Richmond!
It's in a new antique mall in Lakeside
right next to the Farmer's Market and behind the CVS:
called RVA Antiques.
You must come check us out…
I think you'll like it!!!!!!!
Here's what I've been working on:
A trash door...
 Rescued picket fencing….
 …and an old baker's rack...
 …get a spiffy new paint job…….
I used thick dry brushing in three colors (ivory, robin's egg blue and mint green)
…Everything has a fresh new shabbified patina!
I'm going to use all these salvaged materials to "build"
a wall around my booth.
 Check it out!

I think it's looking pretty fine after just one day…..
and several car loads……..
Please come support me at my new location!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, y'all!
(Oh, and if you see anything that interests you,
send a shout out!!!!!! I'll give you all the scoop!)

RVA Antiques is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10-5.
and Sundays 12-4.
6102 Lakeside Avenue.

Thomasville Buffet gets a Paint Job

Now here's a great piece I picked up recently at an estate sale.
(Thank you, Molly Buford!)
It's a Thomasville buffet……
not old.
I loved all the carving on it,
but hated the new looking wood finish.
And so………of course I painted it!!!!!!
I used two coats of a custom blend of Chalk Paint:
Old White with just a touch of Louis Blue.
Here it is painted.
Next, I added paris grey to the edges,
and over some of the wood carving.
Then I distressed sanded, waxed,
and added dark wax to the details.
I am in love!
I painted the hardware, too..
it's the perfect frenchy piece now.
It's already gone to its new home.
I miss you already!!!!!!
