Buying and Selling - This week's SheShe transformations and finds

Hello out there,
The week is just about over,
the Greenwood Antiques & Uniques Porch Sale is tomorrow,
and I've been busy getting inventory together.

Take a look at some of this week's SheShe transformations
that will be going to the sale:
I picked up this random white bar stool at a thrift shop….
I did a little sanding, added stain...
 …and added stamped letters……for a little whimsy.
My friend Frances gave me this little Bombay table that was falling apart.

After gluing it back together,
I painted in chalk paint, added a stencil,
 And then applied dark stain...
I used the same finish as this chair
so I'll be selling these as a little set.
This was a chair I bought on craiglist a couple months ago
and had in my booth.
I hated the black glossy finish…just not me.

So i brought it home,
painted it in Annie Sloan Duck Egg...
…and then distressed and added stain.
But this was my favorite find this past week:
This gorgeous petite french settee
I purchased at Class and Trash.
The cane back is in perfect condition, but the upholstery is old,
and I'm not in love with the wood tones...
Last night I decided to go for it!
I started by ripping off all the fabric.
Then I painted the wood trim in Annie Sloan Paris Grey.
I "wet sanded" as I painted,
(which just means rubbing off some of the paint with a wet cloth,)
to give it a very distressed look.
I decided to keep the cane back unpainted,
so I wanted to have lots of wood tones peeking through the painted finish.
Then I waxed all the trim.
 This morning,
I selected this tobacco toned fabric……..
I was going to go for a stripe, but decided to keep it neutral.
 Added gimp along the edges.
 Love the finish…….
This is gonna be killer at the foot of someone's bed!!!!!
 I'm selling for $350.

I also found homes for all these cool pieces
I scored this past week:
 …wonderful little turquoise cabinet...
…teal spool legged end table…
(I sold both these the way I found them.)
 ….Eastlake pedestal table…
(See? I don't paint everything!!)
..and this lamp I painted last week.
I mean, is this not the perfect place for it?
I also had to say goodbye to the most gorgeous chair in the world!
It went home with it's new momma,
Molly B!

Buying and selling,
packing and unloading,
moving and shaking.
That's my life.
And I love it.

Are you looking for something particular?
Let me know…
I'll put it on my list!!!

For once, I DID NOT PAINT IT!!!!!! Serendipity Strikes Again!

SO,
after my last post,
about this chair I scored at Curtain Call,
the verdict was...
DO NOT PAINT IT!!!!!!
And I have to agree.
This chair is just way too incredible
to cover up with paint….
Besides,
Serendipity struck again!

Last week,
I purchased this tabletop
from a dealer at Greenwood Antiques.
 And yesterday,
when I walked into one of my favorite thrift stores,
Class and Trash in Ashland,
I saw this!!!!!
 The perfect pedestal
to turn my tabletop…
into a table…
And just look at this!
It's like,
these two were meant to be together….
The finish matches perfectly!
And they came from three different places.
I LOVE when this happens.
(This gorgeous set is for sale for $300.)

And now,
on to the first transformation
of items I purchased this week at Curtain Call:
Since I didn't paint the chair,
and you know I HAVE to paint,
I went for……..
the candlestick(s) in the Conservatory...
First, I simply did a little spray painting…
I didn't want total coverage
because I wanted some of the old finish
to peek through here and there…
for a layered effect.
 Next, I brushed on stain,
and then wiped off.
(Left is after the stain application.  Right is before.)
 Remarkable difference…
See how the old finish peeps through?
 Outside photo…...
 Inside,
you can see more of the depth of the finish...
 Yummy yummy yummy,
I've got love in my tummy.
For sale: $25 each/$40 set.

I loved the color of this paint so much
that I next took this Goodwill lamp…
…with this fun base that had a few issues...
…oval lampshade is in great condition...
 and painted the base.
Wonderful retro style….
This one I do believe is SOLD.

Thanks for looking, folks.
Stay tuned for more!!!!

It's not a chair,
it's a sculpture!!!!
Check out the carving...
Yes I bought it to paint….
But now that I've gotten it home and out of the car,
I'm wondering….should I?
The burled wood is quite beautiful…

What do you think????
Send me your comments, folks!

I have a great idea for the carved platter…
(not telling yet!!!)
A pair of petite alabaster lamps!
They just need the perfect new shades!
I love the rustic frame on this sweet framed needlepoint...
And I'm still salivating over this pendant chandelier………
I have a feeling I might be
layering some paints on the metal flowers….
it's all frenchy and ornately delicious..
 A couple of metal candlesticks….
definitely going to paint these...
..as well as this decorative wall clock….

..and this little shelving unit in the style of a chicken coop.
I love this industrial style copper pendant light fixture.
(When I got home and took it out of the box,
I discovered a second one!)
These are gonna look awesome in someone's kitchen!!!!!
